A 6-foot-3-inch, 240-pound senior from Towson, Md., Eby has seen action in 30 consecutive games as Columbia’s long snapper. Over his three-year career, he has snapped 194 punts, 60
Eby was one of three long snappers named to the preseason All-America team, topping Jacksonville State’s Josh Brady (Second Team) and North Carolina Central’s Erik Schlecker (Third Team).
Columbia returns six All-Ivy League players, 15 of 22 starters (eight on offense and seven on defense) and 58 total lettermen from a team that completed its most successful season in 21 years. The 2017 Lions posted an 8-2 record and finished second in the Ivy League with a 5-2 record for their winningest season since 1996. In addition, Columbia began a season with six straight wins for the first time since 1996, completed the school’s longest win streak since 1935 (seven games) and posted one of the nation’s top-five best yearly comebacks in the FCS with a with a five-win improvement from 2016 to 2017.
