Katz, who graduated from the NCAA Women Coaches Academy in June of 2008, helped her 2007 squad earn an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. In May of 2008, she served as the assistant coach for a U.S. Collegiate team, which traveled to Europe to compete in a series of matches in Austria and Germany. The team, which included three players from the Ivy League, went 4-1.

Prior to her time at Columbia, Katz served as the setting coach for the Long Island Juniors Volleyball Club, coaching the setters on each of the six teams the club sponsors in 2004. Katz also participated in Long Island Volleyball’s camps and clinics for five years, instructing players ranging from sixth grade to adult.

Katz was a four-year letterwinner at Hofstra University, setting for the third winningest team in the Pride’s volleyball history. She led the team to the conference tournament all four years, with the team winning the championship two times and advancing to the NCAA tournament. Her senior year, Hofstra posted a 24-3 record, recording the fewest losses of any Hofstra volleyball team. She was twice named first team All-Conference and first team All-Tournament and in 2000, was named American East Setter of the Year. In her senior season she was honored by the National Jewish Athletic Hall of Fame as an outstanding female athlete and was voted to the Verizon/CoSIDA Academic first team All-District.

Katz graduated cum laude from Hofstra in 2003 with a degree in business administration and finance. After graduation, Katz began working for Deloitte & Touche LLP, serving the securitization transactions team as an analyst.

Katz earned her master’s in physical education and health education at Columbia’s Teacher’s College in May of 2007. She resides in Manhattan.
