Greg Sigler came to Columbia in 2006 as inside linebackers coach, reuniting him with former Columbia defensive coordinator Lou Ferrari. Sigler was elevated to full-time linebackers coach in the July of 2008. 

Sigler had played for Ferrari and coached with him at Vero Beach High in his native Vero Beach, Fla. Sigler played tight end both at Vero Beach High and the University at Albany (N.Y.). A three-year starter at Albany, he was an All-American (Football Gazette) and first team All-Northeast Conference in 2002, his senior season.

Sigler graduated in 2002 with a B.A. in communications and returned to Florida, where he worked with the Vero Beach junior varsity team. From 2003 to 2004, he was a contract manager for Harris Enterprise in Baltimore, but returned to coaching in June 2004 as defensive backfield coach at Mount Ida College in Newton, Mass.     

After one season there, he spent one year at the University of Redlands in Redlands, California, as a graduate assistant coach working with the receivers. He was instrumental in the student-athletes’ conditioning and strength training, both in and off-season, at Mount Ida and Redlands. He also began pursuit of a master’s in higher education at Redlands.

Sigler lives on Morningside Heights.
