NEW YORK – Rising seniors Austin Knowlin and Lou Miller each were named to the 2009 Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Preseason All-American second team, as reported by Consensus Draft Services (CDS).

Knowlin and Miller, both All-Ivy Leaguers in 2008, are two of just four Ivy League players on the first and second teams.

A threat any time he touches the ball, Knowlin made the CDS Preseason All-American team as a punt returner after returning a punt for a touchdown in consecutive weeks last season.

A second team All-Ivy League honoree at wide receiver, Knowlin was the team's co-MVP in 2008 after totaling a team-best 1,072 all-purpose yards with six touchdowns.

After emerging into one of the Ivy League's top pass rushers in 2008, Miller was a first team All-Ivy League selection at defensive end last season.  He had 19 1/2 tackles for a loss with eight sacks, both of which led the Ivy League.

Miller was a key cog within a solid Columbia defensive unit that held opponents to just 2.7 yards per carry in 2008.

Columbia will open the 2009 season at Fordham on Saturday, September 19.
