Gretchen Schueler joined the Columbia football program in 2006 and serves as the assistant director of football operations and recruiting, working with the coaches and staff and supervising the student staff. She maintains databases for prospective student-athletes and alumni, and both writes and edits mailings to those groups. She also maintains a database for the current team members.
Schueler got her start in football operations as a student manager for the UConn Huskies while an undergraduate. In 2002, her senior season, she was named the Huskies' Head Student Manager, supervising a staff of eight fellow managers.
She also worked on the Athletic Equipment Room staff throughout her undergraduate and graduate years, and was a member of the Randy Edsall Football Camps staff.
Following graduation in 2003 with a B.A. in communications sciences, Schueler remained at UConn as a graduate student. She worked closely with UConn's Athletic Communications on football publications, serving for several seasons as sideline media contact for football games, and was an operations staff supervisor for the Athletic Operations Department. She also served a season internship with Arena Football's communications department in media relations and writing and editing. She worked with the Arena Football staff on ArenaBowl XIX in Las Vegas.
Schueler received a master's desgree in sport management from the University of Connecticut in December 2005. A native of Weston, Conn., she now lives in Stamford.
