Westfield, Indiana – Columbia archers Christine Kim and Sophia Strachan competed in the the 133rd U.S. National Target Championships over the weekend, putting on medal winning performances admist some of the greatest archers in the spot. Combined with the 2017 JOAD National Target Championships the events featured over 1,150 archers with a number of Olympians, Paralympians, World Champions, world record holders and more at Grand Park in Hamilton County, Indiana.
Battling strong winds along with their opponents, Sophia Strachan and Christine Kim were oustanding in the qualifier rounds with Strachan earning the top seed in the junior compound and Kim with a runer-up seed in the junior recurve.
Kim was sentational in the elimnation rounds of the junior recurve defetaing five opponents, including a 6-4 victory over Gwendolynn Murphy in the finals, to capture a gold medal finish. Strachan added a bronze medal finish in the junior compound, capped by edgining Samantha Taylor in the thid-place match 144-142.
