NEWS/NOTES
• The Lions split last weekend’s matchups, dropping a heartbreaker at Dartmouth, 3-2 in overtime, before blanking Lehigh 4-0 to wrap up non-conference play.
Maeve Doherty and Lindsay Ladas each tallied a goal and two assists for the weekend. The goal for Ladas was her first of the season and second of her career.
• The shutout win was Columbia’s third of the season and the most for the program since the 2008 campaign when it kept five clean-sheets.
Rebecca Pope scored her first goal of the season and first since her rookie campaign in 2014 with her tally against No. 8 Delaware on Oct. 15.
Jennifer Trieschman netted a hat trick in the Lions’ win over Holy Cross on Oct. 8 and now has six goals on the year, good for second on the squad.
• Columbia fell in New Haven, 2-0, last season, but won the previous two meetings by a combined score of 7-1.
• The Lions lead the Ivy League and rank No. 13 in the NCAA, averaging 7.6 penalty corners per game. Columbia is also averaging 2.47 assists per game, which is 16th nationally and second in the Ancient Eight.
• Dempsey was named Ivy League Player of the Week on Oct. 2 after making 14 saves against the Big Red on Sept. 30. She has started all 15 games in goal and boasts a 2.65 GAA with a .699 save percentage and three shutouts. She is stopping 6.33 shots per contest, which is 17th in the NCAA. Dempsey’s three clean sheets put her tied for fifth on the Lions’ career list.
• Doherty leads the squad with 29 points (10 G, 9 A). She was named Ivy League Player of the Week on Sept. 18 and an Ivy League Player of the Year candidate.
   - Doherty is second in the Ivy League in points and assists and is third in goals. Her 0.6 assists per game rank No. 20 in the NCAA and her 1.93 points per game is 24th in the nation.
   - Doherty has eight defensive saves on the season, which is tied for second in the nation.
   - With two assists at Dartmouth, Doherty took over sole possession of second on the Columbia all-time list.
• Senior Michelle Thompson’s eight assists are the third most in the Ancient Eight.
• Columbia named senior midfielder and two-time All-Ivy League selection, Maeve Doherty, junior goalkeeper Katie Dempsey and sophomore back Kelly McCarthy team captains at the conclusion of last spring’s practices.
• Head coach Caroline Nelson-Nichols enters her third year at the helm of Columbia. The two-time U.S. Olympian holds a career record of 25-24 overall and 8-11 in Ivy League play.

SCOUTING YALE
• The Bulldogs are winners of three of their last four. Yale was edged, 1-0, at Penn on Oct. 20 before turning the tables on UMass on Oct. 22 with a 1-0 victory in Amherst.
• Yale is scoring 2.7 goals per game and allowing 1.76.
• Carol Middough leads the conference with 14 goals. Imogen Davies has dished out a team-high six assists.
• Sydney Terroso has been the only goalie to see action for the Bulldogs. She has a 1.76 GAA, .803 save percentage and three shutouts.
