BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Columbia's Garrett Ryan won the heavyweight title, while Jacob Macalolooy and Tyrel White both finished second at 149 and 174, respectively, as the Lions impressed at the Jonathan Kaloust Bearcat Open in Binghamton.

Ryan cruised through the heavyweight bracket, picking up bonus points in four of his five victories. In the first two bouts, the Scottsdale, Arizona, native pinned both Harrison Young from Army and Angus Cowell from Harvard in the first period. After a 7-1 defeat of Buffalo's Nolan Terrace, Ryan went on to post a 13-2 major decision against Penn's Patrick Garren in the semifinal bout. In the championship match, the senior topped Connor Calkins from Binghamton, 10-2.

At 149, Macalolooy survived Penn State's Luke Gardner in a tough opening match, moving on with a 2-1 defeat. After pinning Paddy Quinlan from Franklin & Marshall during the closing moments of the third period in his second bout, the senior moved on with an overtime defeat of Binghamton's Parker Kropman, 6-4 (SV-1). The Union City, California, native got by Matthew Lattanze from Brown (8-0) and Jonathan Furnas from Cornell (9-6) to advance to the championship bout, where he was edged by Penn State's Jarod Verkleeren, 5-3.

For White, his first career tournament at 174 was a success, posting a pair of tech falls en route to a second place finish. The senior put up three straight bonus point victories in his first three matches, before getting by Josef Johnson from Harvard, 4-3, in the semifinal bout. The North Bomoseen, Vermont, native advanced to the championship, where he dropped a 6-1 decision to Cornell's Brandon Womack.

Sophomore Laurence Kosoy also had a strong performance at Binghamton, posting two falls at 165 pounds in his first two matches, before winning a total of four matches in a sixth place finish. Kosoy's clasmate, Michael Bulkin, also put up a podium finish at 197 pounds, advancing to the seventh place bout thanks to a trio of triumphs.
