NEW YORK— The Lions dominated the Columbia Invite on Friday night, as both the men's and the women's teams won all three of their matches to go undefeated on the evening.
Columbia took down NJIT in the first round, 21-6. Women's sabre led the way with an 8-1 record, as Anastasia Ivanoff and first-year Maria Chart both went 3-0 in their bouts. Iman Blow led the way for women's foil as the squad won 7-2.
In the final round, Columbia duplicated its performance with a 23-4 win. Foil was dominant again at 9-0 with Binder, Schreiber and Iman Blow.
The men's squad defeated NJIT in the first round 16-11 behind a strong performance for the foil squad, which went 7-2. First-year Sidarth Kumbla led the way with a 3-0 performance in his first collegiate meet. Against Stevens, sabre and foil went 7-2 while epee posted a 5-4 round. For men's sabre Alexander Walker III and Josef Cohen both posted 3-0 performances, while Albert Zhang did the same in foil.
In the final round, the men were dominant, posting a 25-2 victory over Hunter. Both foil and epee went undefeated and sabre posted a 7-2 round.
