Volleyball Falls to Princeton, 3-1

NEW YORK -- The Columbia volleyball team fell short of a comeback against Princeton on Saturday evening in a tightly contested 3-1 match in Levien Gymnasium. The Lions registered the loss by set scores of 23-25, 25-22, 23-25, 16-25.

Columbia dropped to 3-9 on the season and 1-2 in Ivy League action after they edged Penn in a thrilling five-set victory on Friday in their Ivy League home opener.

Sophomore Lucy Tilton posted a career-high 16 kiils to lead the way for Columbia against the Tigers, while Bailey Springer chipped in with another 11. First-year Cassie Wes had a team-high 11 digs, and senior Colleen Brennan led the Lions with 35 assists.

Princeton had a solid day on the attack with four players in double-figure kills, including Cara Mattalioano, who had a match-high 17 kills on the night. Tiana Woolridge also had a successful match for the Tigers, posting 11 kills on a ,667 hitting percentage.

The Lions will continue their Ivy League slate with a pair of road matches next weekend. Columbia is set to face Dartmouth on Friday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m., followed by a 5 p.m. Saturday showdown at Harvard.
