NEW YORK - Columbia senior Cindy Chen was named to the Capital One Academic All-District I Volleyball first team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Chen, a senior captain, has a 3.98 grade point average with a mathematics major. The outside hitter from Beaverton, Oregon has played in 96 matches, with 381 career kills to date, including a career-high 145 kills as a junior. She has 802 career digs and an impressive 276 digs this season.
Chen has proven to be an integral part of Columbia's success in recent years, culminating with her senior season, in which Columbia has registered the most single-season Ivy League wins in school history (9). The Lions are 15-8 with two games to play, already marking the second most-overall wins in Columbia history.
