PRINCETON, N.J. – Princeton rallied from behind to defeat the Columbia volleyball team on Friday night by set scores of 25-21, 25-27, 22-25, 25-20.

Sophomore Bailey Springer led the way for Columbia (5-13, 3-6 Ivy League) with a double-double of 19 kills and 14 digs, while senior Molly Winger chipped in with a team-high 17 digs.

Princeton (7-12, 3-6 Ivy League) had three players in double-digit kills, led by a match-high 19 from Cara Mattaliano.

Princeton led early on in the first set until a 5-0 Columbia run put the Lions in front, 10-7. The Tigers tied things up once more at 11-11, but a Princeton attacking error and kill by Bailey Springer reversed the lead in Columbia’s favor once again. A kill by Kendall Peterkin knotted the score once more at 17-all, but Neblett answered with a kill for the Lions to take over for good.

The Lions carried momentum into the second set, taking the first lead with a kill by Neblett and holding on until Princeton tied midway through at 12-12 using a 5-0 rally. Columbia went back ahead and held on until the Tigers ultimately took over battling it out into extra-points.

Princeton scored first and led the entire way in the third set. A kill by Bailey Springer brought the Lions within one point, 18-17, but that would be as close as they would come.

The fourth set was an intense back-and-forth battle, but the Tigers stayed strong en route to the victory.

Up next, the Lions travel to Philadelphia for a 5 p.m. rematch with Ivy League foe Penn at the Palestra.
