NEW YORK - The Columbia volleyball program and head coach Jon Wilson have released its schedule for the 2013 season. The Lions will have 23 regular-season games, including three tournaments pitted against fierce competition.
Columbia opens with three matches on the road at the Northwestern Wildcat Challenge in Evanston, Ill. from September 6-7. The Lions will take on host Northwestern, Belmont and Boise State in the two-day event.
Two more tournaments await the squad upon their return to the East Coast, including their own Columbia Invitational, which will be held Sept. 13-14 in Levien Gymnasium. The Lions will play a series of three matches against non-league opponents Boston College, Fordham and Binghamton.
Columbia wraps up non-conference play on the road at the Virginia Tournament in Charlottesville, Va. from Sept. 20-21 vs. host Virginia, William & Mary and Seton Hall.
The Lions kick off Ivy League play Saturday, Sept. 28 in Ithaca, N.Y. when Columbia takes on Cornell in a 2 p.m. matchup. They will also host the Big Red on Saturday, October 26 at 2 p.m.
Columbia will play each Ivy League twice. In all, Columbia is set to host seven Ivy League matches in Levien Gym, beginning with a Penn and Princeton weekend from Oct. 4-5 before wrapping up the regular season with Harvard on November 15 and Dartmouth on Nov. 16.
