PRINCETON, N.J. - Topping off what was already the most successful season in program history, the Columbia volleyball team was honored with three All-Ivy League selections Thursday afternoon, as announced by the conference office. For the first time ever, Columbia had two players named to the first team, seniors Megan Gaughn and Heather Braunagel, while sophomore Caitlin Brenton earned second team accolades.

Gaughn was a unanimous selection as she notched the third All-Ivy League honors of her career. The outside hitter became Columbia's all-time leader in kills this season, accumulating 1,284, and finished second in the league after averaging 3.60 kills per set.

Earlier this season, Gaughn attacked her way to Ivy League Player of the Week accolades following a 16-kill, 18-dig performance vs. Cornell to become the first-ever player for Columbia to reach the 1,000-kill, 1,000-dig milestone.

Braunagel, earning her second All-Ivy League honors, led the league in blocks per set throughout the season, averaging 1.20, and finished third in hitting percentage, swinging at a .351 mark. Her dominance at the net lifted Columbia to lead the entire league in blocks throughout the season with 2.50 per set.

A first-time All-Ivy League selection, Brenton was as an all-around integral force for the Lions this season, finishing second in both kills (2.19/set) and blocks (0.86/set).

Columbia closed out the 2012 season with five consecutive wins to go 14-9 overall and 9-5 in the Ivy League, earning a tie for second place in the conference for its highest finish in school history.
