NEW YORK – The Columbia volleyball team had three athletes earn All-Ivy League honors this fall, it was announced by the Ivy League office Thursday. Junior Megan Gaughn earned first-team All-Ivy League honors, while junior Heather Braunagel earned second team honors, and sophomore Savannah Fletcher was named honorable mention.

Gaughn earned her third-consecutive All-Ivy League honors, and her second straight first team nod. She led the Lions in kills (298) and aces (24), and finished third on the team in digs (266).  She finished fifth in the Ivy League in overall kills, with a 3.27 kills per set average. In 2010, she became the first Columbia volleyball player ever to earn unanimous first-team All-Ivy League honors.

Braunagel’s second team nod is the first Ivy League honors of her career. Braunagel finished the year third in the Ivy League in hitting percentage, finishing the season hitting .355. The middle blocker led the Ivy League in hitting percentage in conference matches, as she hit .363 against Ivy League opponents. Braunagel also finished the season with a 2.35 kills per set average, and 51 total blocks.

Sophomore Fletcher also earned her first-ever Ivy League honors with the honorable mention nod. Fletcher led the Ivy League in blocks throughout the year, finishing with a 1.15 blocks per set average. She was fourth in the Ivy League in hitting percentage at .346, and hit .325 against Ivy League opponents. She had a season high 11 blocks in Columbia’s win over Brown, which was the second highest single game total for the entire league.
