Moye-McLaren Garners Pair of Ivy League Player and Co-Rookie of the Week Accolades
PRINCETON, NJ - First-year Columbia volleyball player Atlanta Moye-McLaren earned her first weekly Ivy League honors with a pair of Player of the Week and Co-Rookie of the Week accolades after a standout performance last weekend at the Columbia Invitational.
The Los Angeles, Calif. native was named Most Valuable Player in the Lions' own invitational with her first career double-doubles that included identical 10-kill, 13-dig performances in wins over Hofstra and Rhode Island. She also narrowly missed a double-double in Columbia's victory over Colgate, as she recorded nine kills and a career-high 16 digs.
The outside hitter finished the 3-0 weekend for the Lions with a .255 hitting percentage, 2.42 kills per set, 3.50 digs per set, five service aces and three blocks.
Moye-McLaren marks the first Columbia volleyball player to earn Player of the Week honors since Megan Gaughn on Sept. 21, 2010 and the first to garner a Rookie of the Week award since Caitlin Brenton on Oct. 11, 2011.
Moye-McLaren shares this week's Rookie of the Week honors with Yale's Kelly Johnson.
The Lions will open Ivy League play at home this weekend vs. Cornell on Sept. 22 at 2 p.m.
