HANOVER, N.H. - Down 0-2 following the first two sets, the Columbia volleyball team rallied for a come from behind victory to defeat Dartmouth in a five-set thriller Friday night. The Lions dropped their first two sets, 24-26, 20-25, but won the next three, 25-21, 25-21, 15-5.

Columbia improved its overall record to 4-9 and reached the .500 mark in Ivy League action, while Dartmouth fell to 7-9 on the year and remained winless in conference play.

A trio of Lions posted identical 14-kill performances to lift Columbia to the victory. Sophomore Atlanta Moye-McLaren recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 14 kills and and a season-high 27 digs on the night, while classmates Bailey Springer and Alex Reale chipped in with 14 kills of their own. Katarina Jovicic also had a strong night, making a career-best seven blocks (four solo) to go with five kills (0 errors) for an impressive .385 hitting percentage.

Dartmouth was led by four players in double-digit kills, including a team-high 14 kills by Elisa Scrudder on a .267 hitting percentage.

The first set was a back-and-forth affair the entire way, pushing into extra points before a Big Green block grabbed the Dartmouth victory.

The Big Green led the entire way throughout the second set, but the Lions stayed close behind.

In the third set, however, Columbia took the first lead and did not trail the entire way to keep its hopes alive with the match score at 2-1. Momentum carried over in the fourth set as the Lions outkilled the Big Green by a 17 to 12 margin and limited them to a .100 hitting percentage, forcing the deciding set.

At that point, Columbia was unstoppable, downing Dartmouth 15-5 to cruise to the conference victory.

The Lions are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 12 for a 5 p.m. match at Harvard.
