NEW YORK – Columbia volleyball head coach Brie Katz has announced the addition of three incoming first-years that will join the program in the fall of 2014. The newest members of the squad will be Alex Andrejev, Carla Dibbs and Caitlin Cole.

“Alex, Caitlin, and Carla are such an impressive group of young women,” Katz stated.  “They are equally as motivated to win as they are to be great teammates and we cannot wait for them to join us this fall.”

Andrejev, a setter that hails from McLean, Va., was named her state’s Gatorade Player of the Year after her senior season. She was a captain of the Langley High School squad that won the Virginia 6A State Championship. Andreyev was named 6A-Northern Player of the Year, Liberty Conference MVP and Washington Post All-Met in 2013.

The daughter of Peter and Kris, Andrejev was also a four-year scholar-athlete award winner.

Dibbs joins Columbia by way of Lafayette, La., and Episcopal of Acadiana High School. An outside hitter, Dibbs was a 2013-14 Under Armour Honorable Mention selection, and the only player from the state of Louisiana. A three-time all-state and district MVP honoree, Dibbs was also tabbed as the Louisiana Volleyball Coaches Association Player of the Year following the 2013 campaign.

In the classroom, Dibbs is a national merit semi-finalist, Advanced Placement Scholar with distinction, a four-time math and science award recipient and has posted above a 4.0 GPA throughout high school. Her parents are Paul and Najwa Dibbs.

Cole is a decorated player from Del Norte High School in San Diego, Calif. The 2013 Scholar Athlete of the Year, Cole earned four varsity letters in volleyball, basketball, and track and field and is currently a captain for all three teams. In 2012, Cole helped guide Del Norte to the California Division III state semifinals and has been a part of a pair of league championship squads.

Cole was given the Scholar Athlete award from the San Diego Union Tribune. Her parents are Kevin and Julie Cole.
