NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Former Columbia wrestling standout and captain Andrew Barth ’83CC, ’85BUS has been selected for induction into the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2013, as announced by the EIWA earlier this month.

Barth, the senior captain of Columbia’s 1983 squad, also spent five years competing for the NYAC in Greco-Roman and Freestyle events.

Following his undergraduate work, Barth made his way to the acclaimed Columbia Business School. Upon graduating in 1985, Barth moved to Los Angeles to work for The Capital Group as a financial analyst. Barth made his way through the ranks of the global investment firm and is now the Chairman of Capital Guardian Trust Company and Capital International Limited.

In 2004, Barth made a major gift to the Columbia wrestling program, leading to the renovation of the school’s wrestling room. In 2005, the Columbia wrestling program announced the endowment of the head coaching position with the title of Andrew F. Barth Head Coach of Wrestling. He was honored by Columbia in 2011 as the recipient of the John Jay Award and in 2012 by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame with the Outstanding American Award.

Barth, along with fellow inductees Steve Friedman, Clay McEldowney and Eric Pearson, will be honored in a ceremony March 9, 2013 at Rutgers University preceding the finals of the EIWA Tournament.
