Cross Country Moves Into National Polls
NEW YORK - For the first time since 2005, the Columbia women's cross country team moved into the latest National USTFCCCA poll at No. 24, announced Tuesday, Sept. 22. The Lions are coming off a third-place showing in the 2012 Toledo Inter-Regional Bubble Buster, finishing ahead of then ranked #25 West Virginia, #22 Syracuse and #18 Toledo.
Columbia replaced Princeton as the sole Ivy League team in the polls this week. At No. 3 in the Northeast Region, the Lions jump from No. 8 following an impressive start to the season.
The men's cross country team has maintained their hold in the national polls this week at No. 28. They rank the second-highest in the Ivy League behind only Princeton. With a No. 3 Northeast regional ranking, the Lions sit above six league opponents.
