NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its 450-athlete Division I All-Region awards on Monday, Nov. 12 and five Columbia athletes garnered All-Region honors.

From the Columbia men's team, seniors Mark Feigen, Mike Murphy, Leighton Spencer, and junior Jacob Sienko received All-Region honors, tying the Lions with Princeton for the most in the Ivy League.  Murphy and Spencer have now garnered All-Region status two times in their Columbia careers, receiving their first honors in 2011.

The Columbia men received their first automatic bid to the NCAA Cross Country National Championships on Friday, Nov. 9 after edging Syracuse for a runner-up finish in the NCAA Northeast Regional. In the men's 10K race, the Lions posted four runners in the top 15. Seinko led the pace the with a seventh place finish.

Senior Erin Gillingham earned All-Region recognition for the Columbia women. This marks the first time Gillingham has received this honor in her career. She led the Lions in the Northeast Regional with a 24th-place finish.
