NEW YORK – Columbia’s Director of Cross Country/Track & Field Willy Wood has announced the addition of 16 student-athletes to the men’s program this fall.

The 16 student-athletes hail from 11 different states, and will bolster the men’s program in distance, middle distance, sprints and hurdles. The incoming class joins a men’s program coming off of a 2009 Ivy League Team Championship in cross country, along with six individual and relay championships titles at Indoor and Outdoor Heps.

“I am very excited about our men’s incoming distance and middle distance classes,” Wood said.  “In addition, I am thrilled with the addition of two outstanding intermediate hurdlers who should have an immediate upon our program. Our middle distance class will provide us with a great number of very high caliber athletes who will help us maintain our tradition of dominance in those events. Additionally, our men’s distance class is outstanding and should keep our program moving forward.”
