Women's Cross Country Recognized As A USTFCCCA All-Academic Team
The Lions’ women had a combined GPA of 3.15 and Columbia was among 205 schools recognized by the USTFCCCA.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.
The Columbia women’s cross country team is coming off a strong 2011 season in which it took second at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships and fourth at the NCAA Northeast Regional.
First-year Waverly Neer led the way for the Lions, placing 40th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships to earn USTFCCCA All-America status to go with her All-Region and All-Ivy League first team honors. Junior Caroline McDonough garnered USTFCCCA All-Region honors after finishing 13th at the NCAA Northeast Regional. McDonough also earned All-Ivy League first team honors and junior Clare Buck was named to the All-Ivy League second team.
