NEW YORK - The 2012 Columbia cross country schedule is out and the Lions will begin the season on Sunday, September 9 at the Vermont Invitational in Williston, Vt.
The women will run their second race of the season at the University of Toledo Invitational on Friday, September 21 and the men will run at Lehigh's annual Paul Short Invitational a week later on September 28.
The women and men reconvene on Friday, October 5 to defend their titles at the Metropolitan Championships at Van Cortlandt Park. A week after, the Lions will compete at the University of Wisconsin Adidas Invitational on October 12.
That leads to the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship meet on Saturday, October 27 at Princeton's West Windsor Fields.
Columbia finished second on the men's and women's sides in 2011 and the men earned an at-large bid to NCAA Regionals, which will take place on Friday, November 9. Rising sophomore Waverly Neer also earned a bid to the 2011 Regional meet, the precursor to the 2012 NCAA Championships, which will be on Saturday, November 17 in Louisville, Kentucky.
