NEW YORK – With the 2013 season just months away, head coach Willy Wood has unveiled the upcoming Columbia cross country schedule today. This year’s schedule features four meets in the New York and New Jersey areas, including the 2013 Ivy League Championships at Princeton and the 2013 NCAA Northeast Regional Championships at the Lions coveted Van Cortlandt Park course in the Bronx.

The Lions will open the season on Saturday, Sep. 14 competing in the Stony Brook University Invitational. On September 28, the men’s cross country team will take an early season trip to Earlysville, Va. to race in the Virginia/Panaroma Farms Invitational, hosted by the University of Virginia.

The women’s team will be back in action on Oct. 5 at the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa. and both teams will look to continue its dominance of the Metropolitan Championships at Van Cortlandt Park on October 11.

Columbia will look to be in good mid-season form on Oct. 18 when they compete against some of the nation’s best programs at the Wisconsin Invitational, which will be the last regular season meet before the Lions ready to battle for an Ivy League Championship.

The 2013 Ivy League Cross Country Champions will return to Princeton this season on Friday, Nov. 8. The men’s team finished second last season, just behind the hosting Tigers.

On Friday, Nov. 15, one of the biggest national races of the year will be held on the Lions historic course in the Bronx this season. The 2013 NCCA Cross Country Regional Championships are set to be held at Van Cortlandt Park as the men’s team will look to defend its 2012 Northeast title. Both teams will look to qualify for the 2013 NCAA National Championships that will be held on Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, Ind.
