No. 17 Menís Tennis Remains Unbeaten in the Ivy League with 4-0 Shutout of Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The 17th-ranked Columbia men’s tennis team extended its win streak to 16 matches, including the last five in Ivy League action, on Sunday with a 4-0 defeat on the road over the Yale Bulldogs.

Doubles action quickly fell in favor of the Lions, winning the No. 2 and 3 matches in dominant fashion. Columbia’s No. 2 tandem of Winston Lin and Mike Vermeer dropped just one game en route to an 8-1 victory over Patrick Chase and Kyle Dawson. Bert Vancura and Richard Pham locked up the doubles point for Columbia with an 8-2 toppling of Alex Hagermoser and Daniel Faierman.

Max Schnur, Ashok Narayana and Vermeer brought home the victory for Columbia in singles, each taking straight set wins. Schnur blanked Faierman in the first set before closing out the No. 3 match with a 6-3 second set. Narayana posted back-to-back 6-1 sets to turn away Dawson, while Vermeer relinquished just three games in a 6-1, 6-2 topping of Zach Krumholz.

Columbia will look to close out the season and its run for a perfect Ivy League slate when it concludes the regular season next weekend with a trip Penn on Friday, April 18, before hosting Princeton in the finale on Sunday, April 20.
