Men's Tennis Breaks Into Top-25 Before Weekend Match
New York- The Columbia men’s tennis team has jumped up 14 spots up to No. 20 in the latest ITA poll. The ranking is just three shy of the best ranking in program history when the Lions rose all the way to No. 17 in 1987. The Lions will take on Middle Tennessee State on Sunday, March 2 at the Dick Savitt Tennis Center at 2 p.m.
This is the first match the Lions will play since winning the ECAC Championship title on Feb. 17. Winston Lin goes into the weekend ranked No.12, in the latest ITA poll. Ashok Narayana and doubles partner Max Schnur are ranked No. 16 in the latest poll.
Middle Tennessee State is hoping to have turned the corner on a hard season so far after snapping their six-match losing streak on Feb. 16 against Tennessee State. David Fox is currently 13-10 at the No. 1 position, but only 1-6 against nationally ranked opponents. The Pioneers will face the Cornell Big Red before heading to New York City to take on the Lions.
This is one of two matches the Lions play at home before a long road stretch throughout the rest of March.
