NEW YORK - The No. 5 ranked Columbia men's tennis team improved to 8-1 this spring after a 7-0 sweep of Monmouth today at the Dick Savitt Tennis Center.

The Lions took the doubles point with a pair of wins in the second and third match, before straight-set wins in five of six singles matches led to the 7-0 victory.

Jack Lin and William Matheson, who were recently ranked No. 21 in the doubles poll, took the second match against Sergio Martinez and Srdjan Jakovljevic, 6-1, improving to 13-5 overall in 2017-18. The third match went to Adam Ambrozy and Michal Rolski, 6-0.

No. 7 Victor Pham continued his hot stretch in singles play, topping Nicola Pipoli, 6-1, 6-2. The junior is now unbeaten in his past 10 outings, and holds a 10-1 record this spring.

No. 37 Jackie Tang dropped a match to No. 94 Arthur Dubinski (Oklahoma State) in his most recent outing, but was dominant today, getting by Jakovljevic, 6-3, 6-0.

Other straight-set singles winners today included Adam Ambrozy, William Matheson, and Timothy Wang, while Rian Pandole fought back to take the No. 6 singles match after dropping his first set.

Columbia now looks forward to a spring break trip in Texas, where the Lions will have a rematch with No. 32 Baylor (March 12), before facing SMU (March 14), UT-Arlington (March 16), and No. 26 TCU (March 18).
