PRINCETON, N.J. - On Wednesday May 1, three members of the Columbia women's lacrosse team were named All-Ivy League as announced by the league office. For the second consecutive year, attacker Kacie Johnson was a first-team selection, becoming the first player in program history to receive the first-team honor twice. Sophomore Paige Cuscovitch’s gritty play this season earned a second team selection and senior Kelly Buechel caps her final season with an honorable mention nod.

One of the best athletes in program history, Johnson capped her phenomenal career in standout fashion. The program’s all-time leader in points completed her tally with 249 points. Her points total ranks fourth all-time in Ivy League history, surpassing former Ivy League Players of the Year Jacque Weitzel(248) and Lauren Holleran(243) of Dartmouth.

The senior holds the Columbia career goals record with 161 and assits at 88. She finished this conference season leading the Ivy League in points (67) and goals (52). Johnson is without a doubt one of the best offense players in the history of Ancient Eight.

After a breakout sophomore season that earned the midfielder an All-Ivy League Honorable Mention last year, Cuscovitch continued to show well in her junior season. She stands at the top of conference in groundballs with 47 and helped the Lions lead the league in the category with 301. She broke the program's single-season record for caused turnovers with 38, surpassing Amanda Goodhart's (’12CC) mark of 29 set last season. Her season totals in both groundballs and caused turnovers, rank third best in the nation to date.

The Longmeadow, Mass. native, started in all 15 games and tallied 28 goals and four assists for 32 points this season. To cap the year, Cuscovitch received the program’s Adrian Walters Award. This award is given to the member of the Columbia lacrosse team whose passion for competition, enthusiasm for the game, and unwavering dedication, inspires those around her to better themselves.

Kelly Buechel returned for her final season to be a leader and force on the field for Columbia in 2013. Beuchel was a strong all-around player this year posting 22 goals on the offensive side and added 17 caused turnovers, 36 draw controls and 27 ground balls to her solid season.
