NEW HAVEN, Conn.-Seven different players scored for Yale as the Columbia women's lacrosse team fell 13-9 to the Bulldogs on Saturday, April 14. Junior Kacie Johnson paced the Lions with a team-high six points, including four goals and two assist. Sophomore Paige Cuscovitch joined with a hat trick, and senior Taylor Gattinella and first-year Katie Angulo each added a score. First-year goalkeeper Skylar Dabbar posted 10 saves in the net with nine coming in the second half.

Yale jumped on the board first with a goal in the first minute of play at 29:16 by Caroline Crow. Columbia responded quickly capturing their first lead of the half with two scores. A goal from Angulo at 27:40 and a score by Johnson at 26:59, put the Lions ahead 2-1. Crow scored her second of three first half goals to tie the score for the Bulldogs, but Johnson's second goal of the half at 19:43 gave Columbia a 3-2 lead.

Following a free-position goal at 18:15, the Bulldogs put together a 5-0 run behind two scores from Devon Rhodes, and Crow's third goal, to take a 7-3 lead at 5:18 in the first. A late goal by Cuscovitch would trim the deficit to 7-4 at the break.

The second half began like the first with a Yale goal from Crow in the first minute at 29:43. The Bulldogs quickly added two more goals to gain their largest lead of the game at 10-4 at 27:19 in the second half. The Lions battled back with a pair of goals with scores from Cuscovitch and Johnson, to cut the deficit to 10-6 at 25:15.

Columbia responded to another Yale goal at 17:59 by with a run of three consecutive goals. Johnson scored her fourth goal of the game at 16:45 to ignite the run. She assisted the next two goals, by Cuscovitch and Gattinella, to bring the Lions within two at 11-9 with 13:26 remaining. Yale would hold on scoring the final two goals of the half to take the game 13-9.

The Lions drop to 2-10,0-6 in Ivy League and will return to action on Wednesday, April 18 at 6 p.m. as they host New Hampshire at Robert K. Kraft Field.
