NEW YORK - The Columbia women's lacrosse team will hit the road on Wednesday, Feb. 27 to take on Lafayette at 7 p.m. in Easton, Pa for the first of two straight road games this week. The Lions opened the 2013 season this past Saturday with a bang, defeating Mount St. Mary's 15-4 at home.


Columbia leads the all-time series, 9-3 heading into Wednesday's matchup. Nine of the last 10 meetings have gone to the Lions, including last season's 19-11 win at Robert K. Kraft Field. Seven different Lions scored for Columbia, highlighted by Kacie Johnson's nine-point outburst of four goals and five assists.

Johnson opened the 2013 season scoring five goals, and two assists to post a game-high seven points to lead the Columbia women's lacrosse team to a 15-4 home win over Mount St. Mary's this weekend. On a rainy afternoon at Robert K. Kraft Field, seven different Lions scored, including hat tricks from both Paige Cuscovitch and Sarah Greenberg.

With seven points on Saturday, Johnson surpassed Holly Glynn '09CC to become the all-time points leader in program history. She has tallied 187 career points to date and jumped ahead of Glynn's career mark of 186.

Last season, Johnson set a Columbia single-season record in points with 73 to lead the Ivy League. She topped her previous program record of 59 points, set in 2011, in a fantastic junior season performance.


At 3-0, Lafayette is off to one of its best starts in recent history this season. The Leopards defeated Liberty 16-10 in their latest win on Sunday afternoon in Lynchburg, Va. Addie Godfrey, who has tallied 14 goals and five assists for 19 points, has led the team through their season opening win streak.
