The Lions got off to a slow start in the first half, falling to an early five-goal deficit and trailed by as many as six points. Columbia put together a run of six unanswered goals behind a 10-2 draw control edge to hold the Retrievers scoreless for over nine minutes in the second-half. However, UMBC held on to hand the Lions a 10-8 loss.
