NEW YORK – The success of the current Columbia baseball team has been reflected upon some of its recent alumni currently in the professional ranks. Four former Lions, Dario Pizzano, Pat Lowery, Jon Eisen and Fernando Perez are playing on minor league teams.

Pizzano and Lowery, 2012 draft picks of the Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Angels, respectively, are both competing in the Midwest League with their current teams slated to play against each other tonight. Lowery, of the Burlington Bees, will be on the mound tonight when Pizzano’s Clinton LumberKings host the Bees at Ashford University Field.

Audio of tonight's game is available free to all fans via MiLB HERE.

Lowery is 0-1 this season with a 2.45 ERA in two starts for Burlington. The 2010 Ivy League Pitcher of the Year and two-time first team All-Ivy League selection has eight strikeouts in 11 innings.

Pizzano, the 2012 Ivy League Player of the Year, has been a fixture at the top of the LumberKings’ lineup. In 40 games, he is batting .329, the fifth best average in the Midwest League. With 14 doubles this season he is just one shy of the league lead.

Eisen, a first team All-Ivy League selection and Blair Bat Award winner in 2012, signed with the Southern Illinois Miners of the independent Frontier League on March 24. Although yet to play a game for Southern Illinois, the Miners are just three games into their season with a 2-1 record after winning the 2012 Frontier League Championship.

Perez, a 2004 draft pick of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, is currently with the independent Atlantic League’s Sugar Land Skeeters. In 13 games this season, Perez is batting .278 with a pair of triples and a homer.
