PRINCETON, N.J. – For the second consecutive week, first-year second baseman Will Savage has been recognized as the Ivy League Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.

Savage is the first Columbia baseball player to ever earn Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks. He is the first Ivy League player to do it since Brown's Will Marcal accomplished the feat in 2012.

Savage put together an exceptional week, helping lead the Lions to a 3-1 record in conference action. Over four games, the Bronx, N.Y., native posted a .563 average (9-of-16), scored five times, drove in four runs and was successful in each of his three stolen base attempts. His .625 slugging percentage and .529 on-base average were the second-highest marks on the team last week.

Last week, Savage became the first Lion since the 2010 season to earn Rookie of the Week accolades after posting a .385 average, scoring four times and registering an inside-the-park home run. He becomes the first two-time winner of the award in the same season, since Dario Pizzano won the award twice in 2010.

Columbia is visiting St. John’s and Rutgers in midweek contests on Tuesday and Wednesday, before hosting Princeton this weekend in its first Gehrig Division series of the season.
