NEW YORK - The Gehrig Division will be decided by a one-game tiebreaker this Saturday at Penn's Meiklejohn Stadium, as announced by the Ivy League office Monday afternoon. First pitch in the decisive nine-inning contest is set for 1 p.m. in Philadelphia.

Columbia (24-17) and Penn (24-16) finished the regular season tied atop the Gehrig Division standings at 15-5 after splitting a pair of doubleheaders last weekend.

Penn  was awarded hosting duties for the playoff game based off of Ivy League tiebreaker procedures. The Quakers hold the advantage over Columbia  due to the fact that they have the best winning percentage, against the next common opponent with the highest League winning percentage --regardless of division.

The next best winning percentage is Yale currently (11-9), who also could potentially tie with Dartmouth (9-9) atop the Rolfe Division, with the Big Green having two games remaining. Penn holds the advantage despite the games remaining, after sweeping Dartmouth and Yale earlier this season, winning all four games, while Columbia went 1-3 against the two schools.

The winner of Penn and Columbia’s one-game playoff will not only serve as the Gehrig Division representative in the Ivy League Championship Series, but will also host the series from May 10-11.
