NEW YORK - Dario Pizzano recently received a pair of postseason honors after his junior season at Columbia. Pizzano was selected as a second team ECAC All-Star and earned an honorable mention on the 2012 All-America team.

Voted the Ivy League Player of the Year in May, Pizzano batted .360 with 16 doubles, four home runs, 36 runs batted in and a .471 on-base percentage for Columbia in 2012.

Drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 15th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft in June, Pizzano tied for the Columbia team lead with 37 runs scored and drew 31 walks. Pizzano stepped up his game during Ivy League play, when he batted .409 with two homers and 20 RBI. Among all Ivy League players, Pizzano finished second in base hits and third in doubles in 2012.

In 12 minor league games with the Pulaski (Va.) Mariners, Pizzano is batting .424 with a home run and three runs batted in. He is carrying a .558 on-base percentage and a .576 slugging percentage to produce a 1.134 OPS. Pizzano has hit safely in each of his last seven games with four straight multiple-hit games.
