NEWARK, N.Y. – Rising senior catcher Mike Fischer launched a go-ahead home run to start the second inning of the PGCBL All-Star Game to help propel the East All-Stars to a 7-3 victory at Colburn Park in Newark, N.Y.

Fischer, who is playing for the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs with Columbia teammate Jordan Serena, earned his spot on the East All-Stars as the lead defensive catcher in the East Division. After each team plated a pair of runs in the first inning, Fischer began the second with a deep blast down the left field line to put the East team up 3-2. The East All-Stars would add two more runs in the inning en route to the 7-3 win.

Fischer finished the game 2-for-2 with a walk after singling in the third frame. Fellow Lion, David Vandercook was also selected to the game as a member of the West All-Stars. Despite going 0-for-2 at the dish, Vandercook provided three assists in the field.
