NEW YORK – It has been nearly 70 years since Lou Gehrig passed away on June 2, 1941 and a group from the Columbia College Class of 1941 will commemorate the anniversary of his death with a ceremony on the University's South Field on Thursday afternoon.  It will be followed by a luncheon presided over by M. Dianne Murphy, Columbia's Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education.

Ray Robinson, a member of Columbia's class of 1941, wrote an article that was published in last weekend's New York Times detailing his memories of Gehrig and their times at Columbia.
