COLLEGE SPORTS MADNESS RELEASE

NEW YORK – Senior midfielder David Najem has been honored by College Sports Madness as the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year.

Najem, a Clifton, N.J. native, led a rejuvenated Columbia offense this season, setting career-highs in goals, assists and points. His five goals equaled his total from his previous three season combined, while his six helpers and 16 points were one more than his combined totals through his first three season in a Lions uniform.

A quartet of men’s soccer players joined Najem in being recognized by College Sports Madness with selections to the CSM All-Ivy League second team. Senior forward Will Stamatis, first-year midfielder Andrew Tinari, sophomore midfielder Antonio Matarrazo and sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Jackson were all selected to the second team.

Stamatis and Tinari each found the back of the net on five occasions, while Matarazzo added four scores. Stamatis and Matarazzo each accounted for three game-winning strikes for the Lions. Jackson started all but one contest for Columbia this season, making 53 saves, posting four shutouts and notching eight wins.
