NEW YORK -- The Columbia University men's soccer team will look to extend its unbeaten streak to three against Adelphi on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at Columbia Soccer Stadium. The match against the Panthers, which will kickoff at 7 p.m., will mark the final non-conference match for the Lions in 2010.
Columbia enters the match with a 5-7-2 overall record, and is coming off a 0-0, double-overtime draw with Yale on Oct. 30. The Lions had the edge in shots, 17-14, through 110 minutes and had a 5-2 advantage in attempts in the two extra periods but could not find the back of the net. First-year Henning Sauerbier leads the squad with four goals and 10 points on the year, while junior Francois Anderson has a team-best four assists.
Senior Bayo Adafin is tied with Anderson for second place behind Sauerbier in points with eight. Junior goalkeeper Alexander Aurrichio was named to the Ivy League honor roll this past week following his third shutout of the season against the Bulldogs.
Adelphi is 3-1-1 over its last five matches, and is 8-6-1 overall. The Panthers are coming off a 4-0 shutout of NJIT on Oct. 30, to improve to 2-0-1 in the Atlantic Soccer Conference.
Issa Tall, who scored the game-winner against the Lions in last season's match between the two schools, had a pair of goals against the Highlanders and leads the team with four goals on the year. Thorne Holder has been the starter for most of the season in net, and has accumulated 46 saves and six shutouts.
