NEW YORK - The Columbia men's soccer team will make its first road trip of the season Sunday, as the Lions head to Fairfield, Conn. to take on Sacred Heart. Game time is slated for 5 p.m. at Campus Field.
Columbia will be looking to bounce back from its season-opening loss Friday night at the hands of Fairfield. Columbia dominated the advantage in both shots (10-3) and corner kicks (13-1) against the Stags, but was unable to find the back of the net despite multiple chances late in the second half.
Sacred Heart also has one match under its belt this season, a 2-1 defeat of Saint Peter's Aug. 30. Omer Levy and Marcello Castro each netted goals in the opening frame against Saint Peter's for the Pioneers' victory.
Columbia and Sacred Heart have met each of the past two seasons, with each team coming out on the winning end once. In the first game of the 2010 season for the Lions, Sacred Heart secured a 2-1 victory. Columbia came back the next season, taking a 2-1 win of its own in overtime.
