NEW YORK - The Columbia men's soccer team will begin Ancient Eight competition Saturday, when it travels to Providence, R.I. to face Brown in a 7 p.m. matchup at Stevenson Field.

Currently in the midst of a four-match road stint, Columbia will look to bounce back from a 3-1 defeat at the hands of No. 15 St. John's Tuesday. Henning Sauerbier scored his first goal of the season in the 73rd minute with Kofi Agyapong tallying his second assist. Agyapong paces the Lions with four points on the year.

Prior to the match at St. John's, the Lions battled LIU-Brooklyn to a 1-1 tie. Andrew Celsus notched his first goal of the season in that contest, evening the score in the 73rd minute.

Brown enters Saturday's match winners in seven of eight contests. The lone blemish on the Bears' season has come via a 1-0 loss to Fordham Sept. 9. Since that match, Brown has knocked off Boston University (1-0), Lehigh (1-0), Washington (4-3) and Portland (3-0).

Thomas McNamara and Voltaire Escalona lead the way for Brown with six points apiece. McNamara, Bobby Belair and Eric Robertson have all scored twice this season, while Escalona has racked up four assists. Sam Kernan-Schloss has played all but four minutes in goal for the Bears, posting a 0.50 goals-against average and five shutouts.

Columbia defeated Brown last season in a thrilling double-overtime match. It was the first win over the Bears for Columbia since 1992.
