NEW YORK – Earlier today, Dr. M. Dianne Murphy announced that the Columbia University Soccer venue at the Baker Athletics Complex will be officially dedicated as Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium, in recognition of the generosity of Columbia soccer player Rocco B. Commisso '71SEAS, '75BUS.

The dedication ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 12 at 5:30 p.m. at midfield of the soccer stadium, as the centerpiece of a big day of activities for the Columbia Athletics program, including a soccer doubleheader against Ivy League rivals, Penn.

The Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium becomes the fifth venue at the Baker Athletics Complex named after prominent and generous Columbia Alumni, joining Robert K. Kraft Field at Lawrence A. Wien Stadium, Robertson Field at Satow Stadium, Chrystie Field House, and The Campbell Sports Center.

Before the official dedication ceremony, Columbia Women’s Soccer will match up against the Penn Quakers, with kick-off scheduled for 3:30 p.m. The Columbia Men’s Soccer match against Penn will begin at 7 p.m., after the dedication ceremony concludes. Admission to both soccer contests is FREE.

Columbia will also celebrate the 20th and 30th anniversaries of the Men’s Soccer Ivy League Championship Teams of 1993 and 1983 on the field at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium at halftime of the men’s game.

Earlier in the day, Columbia Football will host Lehigh University in a nationally televised game on the NBC Sports Network at noon.
