Nottingham, Adebayo to Miss Remainder of the Season

NEW YORK – Junior quarterback Brett Nottingham and senior defensive lineman Seyi Adebayo will miss the remainder of the football season due to injury, Patricia and Shepard Head Coach of Football Pete Mangurian announced today.

Nottingham sustained a wrist injury and Adebayo sustained a knee injury in the Lions' September 21 game against Fordham. Nottingham had season-ending wrist surgery on Sunday, September 22 at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Adebayo will require surgery in the coming weeks.

“This is an unfortunate, ugly reality of football at any level,” Coach Mangurian said. “Of course it is disappointing. These two young men have worked extraordinarily hard to prepare for the season. I feel for them. Brett will obviously have another year to play college football, but this injury has ended Seyi’s college career. Both men have the full support of our football program.

“As with everything we do, we are moving forward. I have the utmost confidence in Trevor McDonagh to lead our offense. We also have a solid combination of youth and experience on the defensive line to step up in the absence of Seyi. I have spoken with the team. They know our charge moving forward. I am confident we will.”

Columbia hosts Monmouth at Robert K. Kraft Field at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 28.
