Columbia junior quarterback Sean Brackett and first-year cross country All-American Waverly Neer were named Columbia's Student-Athletes of the Month for November.

Brackett helped Columbia to a dramatic double-overtime victory in the Lions' final game of the season, a 35-28 win over Brown. Brackett accounted for all five Columbia touchdowns, rushing for four scores and throwing for one more in the first overtime. His fourth and final rushing score came on a beautiful 16-yard scamper in the second overtime that gave Columbia the lead for good. Brackett became the first Columbia player since Johnathan Reese in 2000 to score four rushing touchdowns in a game.

The previous week at Cornell, Brackett passed for 409 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for a score. The 409 yards were a career best for Brackett and the most for a Columbia signal caller since Craig Hormann threw for 417 yards in 2007. Brackett gained All-Ivy League honorable mention at the end of the season after throwing for 15 touchdowns and rushing for six more on the ground.

Neer capped off her first collegiate cross country season with a bang, at the 2011 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships on November 21, she placed 40th with a season-best time of 20:30.4 in the women's 6K to earn USTFCCCA All-American status. She was also the top first-year finisher in the NCAA's 254-runner field.

Neer qualified for the national championships by taking fifth place in at the 2011 NCAA Northeast Region Championship at Audubon Golf Course with a time of 20:44.6 to earn an automatic bid. Neer was also named to the USTFCCCA's All-Region team, placing fifth overall and first on Columbia in 20:44.6. Columbia finished fourth out of 36 teams.
