Football Falls on the Road to Harvard

BOSTON - Harvard scored 35 points in the second quarter en route to a 69-0 victory Saturday afternoon at Harvard Stadium.

Harvard scored its first points of the game with 4:20 left in the opening quarter on a Colton Chapple pass to Ricky Zorn.  From there, the Crimson used two Columbia interceptions and a relentless ground attack to score five touchdowns in next quarter. Harvard added 27 points after halftime for the final margin.

Zach Olinger led all players with 14 tackles on the day, while first-year Darin Patmon made five tackles playing significant minutes in the secondary for the first time this season. A trio of Columbia defenders recorded sacks on the day. Greg Lee and Josh Martin got to Chapple on consecutive plays in the second quarter, with Martin driving the Crimson back 16 yards and forcing a turnover on downs.

Columbia's Sean Brackett and Trevor McDonagh split time at quarterback, with the first-year McDonagh playing the entire fourth quarter.  McDonagh finished the game 9-of-20 with two interceptions and 125 yards through the air.  Connor Nelligan had seven catches for 67 yards and Chris Connors had three catches for 42 yards. 

On special teams, Paul Delaney finished with 421 yards on 10 punts, pinning two inside the 20 and a 73-yard punt.

Chapple finished the game 13-of-18 for 195 yards and three touchdowns.  Damani Wilson finished with 121 yards rushing for the Crimson.

Columbia will play its final home game of the season next Saturday, hosting Cornell for a 12:30 p.m. matchup.
