Coach Mangurian on Watson: Quick, explosive, excellent long speed. More of a skater, never has his feet to far off the ground, always moving forward, does not stutter. Good vision and patience, excels at running “gap” type plays. Tremendous confidence in his quickness and burst, sees it and hits it. Didn’t see any pass protection, but he will have to learn. Confirmed speed, still young. Big time production. Can catch the ball out of the backfield. Will create competition for the playing time. Return ability adds value.

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended New Albany High School in New Albany, Ohio ... Played for head coach Mark Mueller … 2012 first-team all-conference … 2012 first-team all-district … 2012 all-state special mention … Also lettered in track & field.

INTENDED MAJOR: Undecided

Personal: Parents are Gena and Gregory Watson, Sr. … Has two siblings, Andrew (12) and Elan (10).

FUN FACT: Watson and his team went undefeated in the conference and finished up 11-3 in 2012.

WHY COLUMBIA? “Academic opportunity and the sense of Columbia University being a place I can thrive. Really enjoyed the team and coaching staff.”
