NEW YORK – The Columbia men’s basketball team picked up its second straight win to start the 2012-13 season after a 74-40 romp of Haverford in its home opener on Tuesday night. The Lions are 2-0 for the first time since the 2005-06 campaign, when they began 5-0.

Senior Mark Cisco led the way with 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field. Sophomore Alex Rosenberg filled the stat-sheet with 11 points, four boards and dished out a game-high six assists. Senior John Daniels also sparked a key first half run with strong defense and rebounding. He finished with seven points and five rebounds.

Columbia pounded the ball inside, outscoring the Fords 46-16 in the paint and holding a 41-22 advantage on the glass. The Lions continued to shoot the ball well, converting on 55.6-percent from the floor.

The Lions quickly took a 5-0 lead after a Cisco lay-in and a three-pointer by Cory Osetkowski on the left wing just two minutes in. The Fords stayed within two possessions for the next several minutes, but Columbia would rattle off 20 unanswered points, capped by an old-fashioned three-point play by Isaac Cohen with 4:30 before the half, and took a 44-19 advantage into the locker room.

The story remained the same in the second half, with the Lions in firm control the entire way. First-year Zach En’Wezoh stole the show with all of his 10 points after the break, including three thunderous dunks that electrified the enthusiastic crowd at Levien Gymnasium.

The Lions will return to Levien Gymnasium on Saturday, November 17, when they welcome Marist to Morningside Heights. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available and can be purchased by clicking here or calling (888) LIONS-11.
