PRINCETON, N.J. – Columbia first-year Luke Petrasek was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Monday after guiding the Lions to an 82-59 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Dec. 21.
Petrasek established new career-highs of 20 points and three blocks in the convincing win. The East Northport, N.Y., native knocked down 6-of-8 attempts from the floor and drilled four 3-pointers, setting another personal best.
The 6-10 forward started the game with a trey in the opening minutes to give Columbia a lead they would never relinquish and came up with the play of the game late in the first half.
With 2:10 remaining before intermission, FDU’s Sidney Sanders Jr. drove to the basket and threw up a floater from the right block. Petrasek came from the weak side to reject the attempt, leading to two points on the other end for Columbia.
The Lions will take on St. John’s at Barclays Center on Saturday, Dec. 28 as part of the Brooklyn Hoops Winter Festival. Tip-off is slated for 2:30 p.m., and the game will be televised on FOX Sports 1. Tickets are also available and can be purchased by clicking here.
