Columbia Men’s Basketball, fresh off its last-second victory on Tuesday night in the first round of the 2014 Post-season Tournament (CIT), has been selected as the host institution for the Lions second-round game. The game will take place in Levien Gymnasium on Saturday, March 22. Columbia will play the Eastern Michigan Eagles at 7:00 p.m.

The Lions defeated Valparaiso 58-56 last night on a buzzer-beater by sophomore guard Maodo Lo ’16CC (Berlin, Germany) to advance to the second round of the tournament. Led by fourth-year Head Coach Kyle Smith, Columbia captured its 20th win of the 2013-14 season in the first round game, the most team victories since 1969-70. 

Saturday’s opponent, Eastern Michigan, defeated Norfolk State 58-54 on Tuesday evening in their first round game. The Eagles have a record of 22-14, finishing 13-9 and in 3rd place in the West Division of the Mid-American Conference (MAC).

Tickets for the second-round game vs. Eastern Michigan will go on sale at noon on TODAY, by visiting or calling 888-LIONS-11. Ticket prices for reserved seating starts at $15. A limited number of premium chairback seats are available for $25. Tickets may also be purchased in person at the ticket office in the Dodge Fitness Center on campus.
